Mathdle

Six numbers, one target, and a new daily puzzle in the browser.

Mathdle is a daily numbers puzzle. Six smaller numbers sit on the board and one target sits above them. You combine those six with plus, minus, multiply, and divide until a remaining number equals the target. One new puzzle is posted each day. The board in the frame is the official game from mathdle.app. It is free, it does not ask you to sign up, and it works in the browser on a phone or a computer.

How to Play Mathdle

  1. Read the target. It sits in the header of the board, next to the puzzle number and the difficulty for the day.
  2. Pick two numbers and an operation. Tap or click a number, then plus, minus, multiply, or divide, then a second number.
  3. The result replaces them in the list. Those two tiles leave the row, and the new value takes their place.
  4. Continue. Pair another two values from what is left, using the same four operations, and keep a path you can still use.
  5. Hit the target. When a remaining number equals the target, the board stops and records the time.

Play Mathdle free online, with no download

The frame on this page loads the official board from mathdle.app. Nothing is installed, and nothing asks you to create an account. On a computer, click the tiles. On a phone, tap them. The landing screen on the official site is Play Mathdle; after that, the six numbers and the target are the whole board. Give up and Hint sit under the history. Undo sits on the latest history row if you want that last step back. Undo does not change the timer or the star score on the official site.

Unlimited practice after the daily puzzle

The dated game is one puzzle per day. After you finish it, the official site still lets you open another numbers-and-target round and keep playing, so practice is not locked to a single sheet. Those extra rounds use the same six-number rule. They are not a second dated score, and they do not replace today’s result.

Which Mathdle Is It?

Two different games share the Mathdle name. This page is the numbers-and-target version: six smaller numbers, one target, and the four basic operations. That is the game at mathdle.app, and that is the board in the frame.

The other Mathdle is an equation version. You type a full equation on input rows and read colored tiles that mark how close each symbol is to a hidden equation. This page does not embed that game, and DLE HQ does not have a separate page for it.

Mathdle Rules and Tips

The official how-to on mathdle.app is short: pick a number, pick an operator, pick another number, and keep going until a remaining value equals the target. You do not have to use all six numbers. Extra unused tiles are allowed, and the official site notes extra credit for a finish that leaves some unused. Results only stay on the board when the operation produces a usable value; a dead end is undone from history rather than forced.

A complete round from Mathdle #539

This is a round played on the official board at mathdle.app on 27 October 2026: daily puzzle #539, marked Easy. The six numbers were 100, 1, 5, 7, 6, and 2. The target was 871. The steps below are the ones entered on that board, in order.

  1. 7 + 2 = 9. The list became 100, 1, 5, 9, 6.
  2. 5 × 6 = 30. The list became 100, 1, 30, 9.
  3. 100 × 9 = 900. The list became 900, 1, 30.
  4. 30 − 1 = 29. The list became 900, 29.
  5. 900 − 29 = 871. That value matches the target, and the board recorded a solve.

The same six numbers also admit other paths. The official site itself stores more than one line that reaches 871, which is the point of this format: the target is fixed, the tiles are fixed, and the route is not unique. The reusable lesson from this sheet is the same as the tips above. The large 100 was saved for a product with 9. The small 1 was held until the last adjustment. Multiplication did the heavy lift; subtraction closed the gap.

What the official board records

A dated solve stores a time and a star score on mathdle.app. Under one minute is five stars; each extra minute drops a star, down to one star after four minutes, and a fail is zero. The landing screen shows a playing streak and a winning streak after you come back. Those values live in that browser on mathdle.app. DLE HQ does not keep an account, and a new device starts at zero. Difficulty on the official site follows the week: Monday and Tuesday Easy, Wednesday Medium, Thursday and Friday Hard, Saturday Very hard, Sunday Fun.

Mathdle vs Nerdle

Mathdle and Nerdle are both daily math puzzles. Nerdle asks for one unique equation: you type a line of digits and operators, and colored tiles tell you which symbols belong in a hidden equation. There is a single official line for that day.

Mathdle gives you six numbers and a target. Several sequences can hit the same target, as the #539 round above shows. You are not guessing a concealed equation. You are building any valid path that lands on the posted number. DLE HQ does not have a Nerdle page. The comparison stays on this Mathdle page so the two rules stay next to each other.

FAQ

Is Mathdle free?

Yes. The official board in the frame is free to play in the browser. mathdle.app does not charge to open today’s puzzle, and DLE HQ does not add a login or a paywall on this page.

Do I need to download Mathdle?

No. The game runs in the browser. This page embeds the official site at mathdle.app. You do not install an app to play the daily puzzle or a practice round.

Does Mathdle work on mobile?

Yes. The official board is a page of tiles. On a phone you tap a number, an operation, and a second number. The same six-number rule is on a small screen; nothing extra is required beyond a current browser.

Can I play past Mathdle puzzles?

The official site posts one dated puzzle each day. After that sheet is finished you can still play more numbers-and-target rounds on mathdle.app. This page does not keep a separate archive of old dailies, and it does not publish answer sheets for past dates.

Is my Mathdle progress saved?

Streaks and the dated result are stored by mathdle.app in the browser you used to play. There is no DLE HQ account. A different phone or a cleared site data starts the streak at zero. Practice rounds do not replace the dated result.

Is Mathdle a Wordle variant?

It is a daily puzzle in the same broad family — one new sheet a day, a short board, a result you can share — but the mechanic is not Wordle. You are not guessing a hidden word. You are combining six numbers to hit a target, and more than one path can be correct.

More Daily Games

Other live games on DLE HQ use the same shape of page: a board you can play, then the rules. Wordle Unlimited is the five-letter word game. Heardle is the daily intro. Songless Unlimited grows a clip until you name the song. Globle is the country-distance game. Flagle is the six-try flag game. Krillion is rare-answer trivia. Tic Tac Word Unlimited is the three-in-a-row word board. Narutodle is the character guess. ← Back to all DLE games.
